It is my esteemed pleasure to bring greetings on behalf of the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®  Sigma Iota Omega Chapter! We are delighted that you have chosen to explore our website and learn more about our sorority and chapter.

Sigma Iota Omega was chartered in 1990 by women with the vision and desire to expand the reach of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® to Robeson County, North Carolina.  In the past three decades, the chapter’s reach has expanded further to serve neighboring communities. One of our proudest achievements has been the ability to assist students in high school to further their education by providing scholarships. We have partnered with local schools, churches, businesses, and other organizations to implement programs and projects that allowed us to be of service to our communities.  It is an honor to continue our commitment as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® women who continue to carry out this vision.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® has been dedicated to be of Service to All Mankind since its inception in 1908.  The Sigma Iota Omega Chapter members are dedicated to implementing the current sorority programs and utilizing the program initiatives as the impetus for our service projects and program activities. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® programs focus on uplifting the social, economic, and educational well-being of our community, nation, and world.

Our current International President and Chief Executive Officer, Danette Anthony Reed’s 2022-2026 International Program theme is “Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood.” This is a call to service for all members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.  This administration has six initiatives with Strengthen Our Sisterhood being our Foundation Initiative. The remaining five program initiatives are:

Empower Our Families

Build Our Economic Wealth

Enhance Our Environment

Advocate for Social Justice

Uplift Our Local Community

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Sigma Iota Omega Chapter continues to address the needs of our community through our innovative program initiatives.  Successful programs require support from our community partners as well as individual acts of volunteerism and action.  Without the support of community members, we would not have been able to sustain and amplify our ability to make a difference in the lives of residents of Robeson and surrounding counties. Thank you for supporting our events which allow us the opportunity to make an impact in our community.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Sigma Iota Omega Chapter serves as the sponsoring graduate chapter for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Omicron Lambda Chapter at UNC-Pembroke.  As graduate members, we have the responsibility and privilege to guide undergraduate members into lifelong sorority membership.  It is a great honor to have been elected by chapter members to serve as the 2024-2025 chapter president. The chapter is dedicated to fulfilling the sorority’s mission to be of “Service to All Mankind”.  We look forward to continuing to positively impact the communities in which we work and live.
